BOONEVILLE – Two Booneville men have been charged after deputies recovered a stolen Polaris Ranger that had been spray-painted and partially dismantled.
The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department received a report July 13 that a 2011 green Polaris Ranger 570 had been stolen from a property on County Road 1280.
Deputies Ridge Lawson and AJ Navarro, along with investigators Aaron Stolz and Torie Jumper, responded and began investigating. Evidence at the scene showed a gate lock had been cut and the side-by-side had been taken from a barn, according to the sheriff’s department.
Investigators later located the vehicle at a residence on County Road 1254. Authorities said the Polaris had been spray-painted and was missing several parts.
The missing bed, windshield, tailgate, rims and tires were later recovered from multiple locations.
Following interviews and statements, Joshua Thomas, 29, was charged with grand larceny and malicious mischief. Ricky Ott, 46, was charged with receiving stolen property and malicious mischief.
Both men were taken to the Prentiss County Jail, where Justice Court Judge Ray Hall set bond at $100,000 each.
Stolz is leading the investigation and is expected to present the case to the next Prentiss County grand jury.
The sheriff’s department credited the teamwork of deputies and investigators with recovering the stolen property and making the arrests.
