Gabriel Girner, 24, entered the plea in Alcorn County Circuit Court. Circuit Judge Michael P. Mills Jr. accepted the plea and sentenced Girner to life in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Under Mississippi law, Girner is not eligible for parole, according to the First Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
The charge stemmed from a Corinth Police Department investigation into the June 14, 2023, death of Ivana Rose Girner, who was 3 months old.
Detective Jerry Rogers served as the lead investigator.
District Attorney Jason D. Herring and Assistant District Attorneys Kyle Robbins and Clay Cummings prosecuted the case.
