TUPELO – A Tupelo man has been charged after police said he was found with a firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device.
According to the Tupelo Police Department, officers were patrolling in the area of Willie Moore Road on June 20 when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
During the stop, officers said they found that a passenger in the vehicle was in possession of a firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device, commonly known as a Glock switch.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail.
After further investigation, police charged 19-year-old Jayden Richey, of Tupelo, on June 22 with one count of possession of a machine gun conversion device.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Richey to be held without bond.
The case will be presented to a Lee County grand jury.
All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
