CLAIBORNE COUNTY – Three people have been charged in connection with a June 13 shooting investigation in Claiborne County.
According to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened in the Pattison-Tillman Road area and has been under investigation for more than a week.
Sheriff Edward L. Goods Sr. said investigators worked to gather evidence, conduct interviews, identify the people involved and present the case to the court.
Deputies responded around 7:15 p.m. June 13 to reports of shots being fired from a red Toyota Camry.
Deputies found the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading deputies on a pursuit. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed after the driver lost control on Pattison-Tillman Road.
After the crash, the occupants ran from the vehicle.
Authorities said one suspect, 18-year-old KeMauri Hill, was apprehended at the scene after trying to flee. The remaining suspects initially escaped but were later identified through the investigation.
Hill was charged with aggravated assault, manifesting extreme indifference to human life. His bond was set at $100,000 by Circuit Judge Tomeka Irvin.
Lenderius Tillman, 17, was also charged with aggravated assault, manifesting extreme indifference to human life. His bond was set at $100,000 by Justice Court Judge Doug Flowers.
A juvenile male was charged with aggravated assault, manifesting extreme indifference to human life, and felony fleeing law enforcement.
“This shooting occurred on June 13, and our investigators have been working tirelessly on this case ever since,” Goods said. “While one suspect was apprehended on the scene, the identification and charging of the remaining individuals required additional investigative work.”
Goods said the charges were the result of that work and that the sheriff’s office remains committed to holding people accountable for violent crimes in Claiborne County.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional charges may be possible.
