Central MS Turtle Rescue is hoping to find a special forever home for Pepe, an adult male red-eared slider with a sweet spirit and a story of survival. Prawn from the Muppets.
At some point in the past, Pepe suffered a traumatic injury to his face, leaving him without a nose or top beak. Despite that injury, the rescue said Pepe has managed to survive and find food on his own.
And want to know the best part? He looks like Pepe the King from the Muppets now! Yes, seriously! He is the absolute cutest.
The rescue said that despite his cuteness, Pepe is underweight, which means he may have had trouble getting enough food or the right type of nutrition.
Central MS Turtle Rescue said Pepe would do best in a home where he can live in captivity, be fed softer foods, such as commercial turtle diets that soften in water, and have his weight and health monitored closely.
Pepe is fully grown and appears to be in good health aside from his nutritional needs.
He will need a large aquarium of at least 60 gallons or a stock tank setup. Because of his condition, Pepe will also need to be housed alone, with no other turtles or fish in the tank.
