JACKSON – Mississippi officials are continuing to respond to severe storms and flooding impacting parts of the state.
Governor Tate Reeves said local, state and federal partners remain involved in the response as damage assessments continue.
Officials said the numbers are expected to change as additional assessments are completed.
According to the latest totals, seven homes have been destroyed. Nine homes sustained major damage, 13 had minor damage and 47 were affected.
Three businesses sustained major damage, and six had minor damage. One farm sustained major damage.
Officials also reported damage to public infrastructure. Four public roads were destroyed, four had major damage and 42 had minor damage.
Two bridges sustained major damage, and one bridge had minor damage. Two public buildings also sustained minor damage.
Three emergency management areas are reporting damage.
Officials said two rivers are in moderate flood stage, while 15 others are in minor flood stage.
The Leaf River near McClain and the Pascagoula River at Graham Ferry are experiencing moderate flooding.
Minor flooding was reported along the Big Black River near Bentonia, Biloxi River near Lyman, Chickasawhay River at Enterprise and Leakesville, East Hobolochitto Creek near Caesar, Pascagoula River at Merrill, Pearl River at Jackson, Pearl River near Pearl River, Pearl River near Philadelphia, Pearl River at Rockport, Strong River at D’Lo, Tallahala Creek at Laurel, Tuscolameta Creek at Walnut Grove, West Hobolochitto Creek near McNeill and Wolf River around Gulfport.
The National Weather Service in Jackson also warned of a flash flood threat across parts of Mississippi Monday, with an elevated risk in north and central portions of the state and a limited risk farther south.
Officials said additional severe weather and flash flooding are possible and urged residents to stay weather aware.
