HATTIESBURG – Two Hattiesburg men were taken into custody Thursday after an aggravated assault.
According to the Hattiesburg Police Department, officers apprehended 22-year-old Jazzton Roberts and 21-year-old Jeremiah Silas around 2:06 p.m. June 18 in the 6000 block of Highway 98.
Police said the two were taken into custody after attempting to flee the scene of an aggravated assault in a pickup truck.
Two victims were evaluated at the scene. One victim was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
As part of the investigation, officers determined the weapon used in the assault was a BB gun and not a handgun.
Investigators also determined the incident was not random and that the people involved knew one another.
The investigation remains ongoing.
