HERNANDO – A Horn Lake man has been sentenced to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections after being convicted of child sex crimes, according to DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton.
Barton said Jamison Leggett, 41, was convicted of sexual battery of a minor, fondling and child exploitation.
Leggett will not be eligible for parole or early release, according to the district attorney’s office. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon release.
The case was investigated by the Horn Lake Police Department and prosecuted by the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office.
“This sick individual is going exactly where he belongs, and I fully expect and hope he does not outlive his sentence,” Barton said. “Let this be a warning to others like him: if you target a child in DeSoto County, expect a conviction and a very long prison sentence.”
Barton also thanked the Horn Lake Police Department for its work on the case.
“This sentence would not have been possible without the outstanding work of the Horn Lake Police Department,” Barton said. “Their investigation helped ensure justice was served and that a dangerous predator is now removed from our community.”
