ADAMS COUNTY – A Roxie man was arrested Friday on drug charges after an investigation at Natchez State Park, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said they were contacted around 12:05 p.m. June 13 by officers with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks about a suspicious person at the park.
Authorities said the person was reportedly operating a red Ford extended cab pickup truck while towing a boat and was believed to be in possession of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
The man was identified as Allen L. Smith, 52, of Roxie.
During the investigation, authorities said they found 16.02 grams of methamphetamine, 2.26 grams of marijuana and various items of drug paraphernalia.
Smith was taken into custody and charged with controlled substance violations. He was transported to the Adams County Jail without incident.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks for its assistance.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
