DARKHORSE DOGS: Cookie the rescue dog found locked in a mobile home, seeking a forever home

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY – A rescue dog named Cookie is recovering after being found abandoned inside a locked mobile home without food or water.

According to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society, Cookie was also suffering from entropion, a painful eye condition that caused constant discomfort.

With community support, Cookie received the surgery she needed. Rescuers said her eyes have healed well, and she has gained needed weight.

Cookie has been living in a foster home since April, but her foster family will soon be leaving town. Rescuers said she now needs a new foster home so she can begin heartworm treatment.

Cookie’s foster family described her as loving, friendly and eager to learn. They said she does well with other dogs and cats, enjoys walks and is house-trained.

Rescuers said Cookie is available for either foster care during her treatment or adoption into a permanent home.
