CLAIBORNE COUNTY – The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office has released an update in the death investigation of Elbert Campbell.
According to Sheriff Edward L. Goods Sr., the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation notified Claiborne County Coroner Keon Neal and the sheriff’s office on June 9 of findings from the investigation and examination.
The sheriff’s office said autopsy and investigative findings showed no evidence of foul play in Campbell’s death.
Officials said toxicology testing was also completed and considered as part of the investigation. Based on all findings and evidence reviewed, investigators determined no criminal activity was involved in the case.
The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Coroner Keon Neal, the Mississippi Crime Laboratory and all agencies involved for their response and work throughout the investigation.
The sheriff’s office also extended condolences to Campbell’s family and loved ones.
