NEWTON, Miss. – Authorities are searching for a person of interest in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday night on West Railroad Street in Newton, according to the Newton Police Department.
Police Chief McKenzie Patrick said investigators have identified Jaquan Keyes, also known as “Remo Remo,” as a person of interest in the case stemming from a shooting reported on May 30.
Newton County E-911 dispatched officers to a residence on W. Railroad Street at approximately 9:50 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed the report, prompting an investigation.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding injuries or the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Case Update
Nathan Boone turned himself in to the Newton Police Department on the morning of June 1, according to Chief McKenzie Patrick.
Boone had previously been identified by investigators as a person of interest in the shooting on W. Railroad Street. Authorities announced earlier that they were seeking information regarding his whereabouts following the May 30 incident.
The Newton Police Department said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
