COLUMBUS – Local businesses are stepping up to help keep Columbus firefighters hydrated as summer temperatures rise.
Source: Columbus FDThe Columbus Fire and Rescue Department thanked Dan Price and the team at Food Giant, along with Benton and Military Hardware, for donating bottled water to support firefighters during the hot summer months.
Fire officials said Mississippi heat can take a toll on first responders as they train, respond to medical calls, work fires and spend long hours on emergency scenes.
The department said something as simple as cold bottled water can make a big difference for the men and women serving the community.
“We truly appreciate businesses and citizens who continue to support Columbus, MS Fire and Rescue Department and stand behind their first responders,” the department said. “Support like this does not go unnoticed.”
Anyone who would like to help support firefighters this summer may donate bottled water or sports drinks. Donations can be dropped off at Columbus Fire and Rescue Station 1, located at 201 7th St. S. in Columbus.
The department thanked Food Giant and Military Hardware for their generosity and continued community support.
