TUNICA COUNTY – The Tunica Humane Society is warning the public about the dangers of leaving pets unattended inside vehicles as temperatures continue to rise.
In a recent social media post, the organization stressed that temperatures inside a vehicle can increase rapidly and become deadly in a matter of minutes.
Source: Tunica Co. Humane SocietyAccording to the post, if the outside temperature is 85 degrees, the temperature inside a vehicle can climb to 104 degrees within 10 minutes.
The humane society urged the public to never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle, even for a short trip into a store.
Officials said the risk increases the longer a person or animal remains inside the vehicle.
