The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce is providing eligible senior citizens access to fresh, locally grown foods through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

The program provides qualified seniors with a benefit card valued at $40. The card can be used at authorized farmers markets in 28 counties across Mississippi to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables and honey.

MDAC said program information, including eligibility requirements and instructions on how to apply for and redeem the benefit card, is available on the Farmers Market Nutrition Program webpage at mdac.ms.gov.

Senior citizens who applied online and received benefits in the past must reapply online to receive benefits in 2026.
