JACKSON — The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Visitor Education Center at the Bob Tyler Fish Hatchery is partnering with the National Park Service to host a free fish camp for youth ages 10 to 15 on June 10.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will introduce participants to fishing basics, hatchery operations and the National Park Service Junior Angler Program.
According to MDWFP, campers will learn fish identification, water safety tips and participate in catfish fishing at the hatchery’s Visitor Education Center pond. Youth will also tour the hatchery, meet a National Park Service ranger and learn more about earning the National Park Service Junior Angler Badge.
Fishing equipment and bait will be provided during the event. Participants who complete the full day of activities will receive special items and earn the Junior Angler Badge.

The Visitor Education Center is part of the Bob Tyler Fish Hatchery and is located off Interstate 55 at Exit 233 east.
