TUPELO – A Tupelo man was arrested after police said he tried to leave a store without paying for several items.
According to the Tupelo Police Department, officers contacted employees at Scruggs, located at 3575 Tom Watson Drive, on May 11 in reference to shoplifting. Store personnel told officers an individual attempted to leave the store without paying for multiple items.
After further investigation, police arrested 22-year-old Erion M. Bass, of Tupelo, on May 15. Bass was charged with one count of felony shoplifting.
On May 17, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Bass held on a $5,000 bond.
The case will be presented to the Lee County grand jury.
