RIDGELAND — The City of Ridgeland will host a Memorial Day ceremony and unveil a new America250 exhibit on May 21 at Ridgeland City Hall.
The public ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in Veterans Memory Park at City Hall, located at 100 W. School St. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 9:45 a.m.
The park features memorial benches and plaques honoring the six branches of the U.S. military, along with the Walk of Heroes, a flagpole and a seven-foot bell tower.
Retired Brig. Gen. Joe Hargett will deliver keynote remarks during the ceremony. Gene McGee, mayor of Ridgeland, and Col. John McCollum are also scheduled to speak.
The program will include a presentation of colors by the Ridgeland High School AFJROTC, along with music from the National Guard Band and Dr. Catherine Sledge.
Following the ceremony, attendees will be invited to tour a new America250 exhibit curated by Nancy Batson, chair of the City History Committee.
Chaplain David Morris and members of the Ridgeland Board of Aldermen and other city officials are also expected to participate.
