JACKSON — The Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi is asking for donations after officials said someone broke into the shelter and stole thousands of dollars worth of supplies.
ARF said the break-in happened Monday night at its property in Jackson. According to the organization, a large amount of medicines, vaccines, cleaning products, NexGard Plus for dogs and cats and other items were stolen.
The organization said a police report has been filed, and staff members are gathering camera footage to provide to police.
ARF said the value of the stolen items is still being calculated but is estimated to be between $15,000 and $18,000.
The shelter said it plans to check with its insurance company about filing a claim but does not currently have the funds to immediately replace the stolen items.
