UPDATE: WLBT is reporting that Hardy was shot Sunday around 2 a.m. at the Kamakazy Biker Club in Laurel as people were leaving at the end of a rap concert.
Another person was also shot, the TV station reports, and three 19-year-old suspects were taken into custody and are on hold for another agency. They have not been charged in the incident.
The three people arrested are reportedly Landice Magee, Jvon Sibley, and Alvin Peyton.

LAUREL — University of Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy was shot at a concert somewhere in Mississippi in the early morning hours Sunday, the university announced Monday, and is listed in stable condition following surgery.
Mizzou Athletics confirmed Hardy sustained a gunshot wound but did not disclose the location of the concert or additional details surrounding the shooting. No law enforcement information has been made public.
“Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans,” the university said in a statement. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support.”
The university said a timeline for Hardy’s return to football activities is unknown and that it will provide updates as information becomes available.
Hardy, a Lawrence County High School graduate, led the SEC with 1,649 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 2025, earning All-American, SEC Newcomer of the Year and All-SEC honors. He set a Missouri single-season rushing record and transferred to the Tigers after spending the 2024 season at Louisiana-Monroe. Hardy was ranked the No. 1 RB in the SEC ahead of the 2026 season by SEC Country.
ESPN is reporting that a source told them that Hardy was alert Monday and moving around, and there is optimism that he will play football again, though the extent of any impact on his football future has not been determined.
