TUPELO – A Tupelo man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking fentanyl, according to the First Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

The district attorney’s office said Alderius Rashad Morrow entered the guilty plea Monday before Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims.

Mims sentenced Morrow to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 28 years suspended, leaving 12 years to serve, according to the release.

Because the conviction was for a trafficking offense, Morrow is not eligible for parole or early release and must serve the full 12-year sentence day for day, the district attorney’s office said.

The case was investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit.

Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case for the state, according to the release.
