PEARL — A Pearl police officer was seriously injured in a crash Monday evening while responding to a call for service, according to authorities.
The crash occurred on Highway 80 near Bierdeman Road. Officials said first responders were working the scene, and motorists were advised to expect delays and use caution in the area.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital. No additional details about the officer’s condition were immediately released.
In a statement, Pearl Police Chief Nick McLendon asked for prayers for the officer, their family and others involved, adding that the department is supporting the injured officer.
Authorities say further information will be released as it becomes available.
