PRENTISS COUNTY – A 33-year-old Prentiss County man has been arrested in connection with a 2025 burglary after a DNA sample recovered at the scene matched him through a state database, according to the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said Daniel Stout of County Road 4101 was arrested April 30 in the case.

The investigation began Aug. 23, 2025, when Deputy Dennis Peeks responded to a residence at 369 County Road 4101 after the homeowner reported a forced entry and multiple stolen items, according to the sheriff’s department.

Investigators said evidence collected at the scene included a blood sample recovered from a broken window.

In April 2026, the Mississippi Forensics Laboratory notified investigators that the DNA sample produced a CODIS match to Stout.

The sheriff’s department said investigators then contacted Stout, who later admitted to committing the burglary.

Stout was taken into custody and transported to the Prentiss County Jail.

He has been charged with burglary of a commercial building. Justice Court Judge Ray Hall set his bond at $25,000 cash or professional bond only, the sheriff’s department said.

Investigator Aaron Stolz will present the case to the next Prentiss County grand jury. Investigator Torie Jumper also assisted in the investigation.
