Chrissy Cheshire has dedicated her life to helping and saving the forgotten animals dumped in Jackson and now she needs the community to step up.

In a post on Facebook, the rescue said it is caring for more than 70 animals and is beyond full capacity. The organization said increasing expenses and the demands of daily care have put significant strain on operations.

According to Cheshire Abbey, its Entergy bill reached $623 this month, and a recent air conditioner repair cost $800. The rescue said it is also facing ongoing expenses for staff, internet, phone, security, water, trash and supplies.

The group said weekly bulk food costs run about $400, and monthly preventatives for the animals are expected to cost about $1,000. Cheshire Abbey also said one of its veterinary accounts has climbed back above $16,000 after recent payments.

The rescue said it is currently being run with only one full-time worker and warned it may soon be forced to stop responding to calls for help because of limited space, time and manpower.

Cheshire Abbey said it is seeking donations, corporate sponsors and additional help to continue caring for the animals already in its custody.

Donations can be made through the rescue’s online payment accounts, by mail, at participating pet supply stores or directly to veterinary clinics used by the organization.

Please consider skipping your weekly Starbucks run and donate to this rescue that does so much for the community.
