ADAMS COUNTY – One of Adams County’s most wanted fugitives has been captured in Louisiana, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said Joseph Edwards was wanted in Adams County for failure to register as a sex offender.

Authorities said Edwards was taken into custody Thursday during a traffic stop in Vidalia, Louisiana, by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest was made possible through cooperation between the two agencies and thanked Concordia Parish Sheriff David Hedrick and his deputies for their help.

Sheriff Travis Patten said Edwards had been actively sought by Adams County deputies and said the arrest sends a clear message that fugitives will be held accountable.

The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to working with partner agencies to pursue people who threaten public safety.
