VICKSBURG — The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam message claiming an Apple Pay charge has been placed on hold because of unusual activity.
The sheriff’s office shared an example of the message, which tells recipients that a $143.95 Apple Pay charge at an Apple Store in California was temporarily held and urges them to call a phone number for Apple Support.
Authorities said the message is a scam and asked the public to share the warning with others.
Officials did not provide additional details but advised residents to be cautious of unsolicited messages involving account security or payment alerts.
