Wednesday Weather: Storms on the way!

Happy Wednesday morning! It’s another day to stay weather aware.

We’re looking at a very active forecast, with rain possible throughout the day and thunderstorms becoming more numerous this afternoon and into the early evening. Some storms could turn severe, especially in the highlighted Enhanced Risk areas, with damaging winds, large hail from quarter-size up to golf ball-size, and even tornadoes all possible. A Level 2 Slight Risk has also been added for parts of South Mississippi and northeast Louisiana.

Highs will climb to around 78 degrees, but don’t let the warm temperatures fool you: this could be a rough weather day at times. In addition to severe storms, localized flooding will also be possible where heavy rain sets up.

Tonight, scattered thunderstorms will continue and may become more widespread overnight before tapering later, with lows around 60. Some stronger storms could linger into the evening hours, so keep a way to get weather alerts, especially after dark.

And this unsettled pattern isn’t going anywhere just yet. More rain and storms are expected Thursday and Friday as well. Bottom line: have the umbrella nearby, have a way to get warnings, and stay alert through today and tonight.
