STARKVILLE – Firefighters in Starkville helped rescue a kitten Thursday after it became trapped inside a storm pipe beneath a roadway on Lampkin Street.
According to the fire department, firefighters from Station 1 worked with Starkville Police Department Animal Control to reach the kitten, which was stuck in the pipe and unable to get out on its own.
Authorities said the rescue took patience and teamwork, but crews were able to safely bring the kitten back to the surface.
The kitten was cold, wet and shaken up, but is now doing well and receiving care, officials said.
The kitten is expected to be made available for adoption through the Humane Society once it is ready.
