RIDGELAND — The Ridgeland Police Department is asking the community to donate blood during a drive next week in support of an officer seriously injured in a crash.
The community blood drive for Cpl. Ryan Stacy is scheduled for May 6 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ridgeland Police Department.
Stacy was seriously injured April 26 in a crash along the Natchez Trace Parkway when his vehicle struck a fallen tree during severe weather. He remains on what the department has described as a long road to recovery.
Police said donating blood is one of the most meaningful ways the public can support Stacy and others in need.
Officials said donations made ahead of the drive can be credited using the code ES24.
The department said the blood drive is intended not only to support Stacy, but also help meet broader community medical needs.
Police have thanked the public for an outpouring of support for Stacy and his family since the crash.
