RIDGELAND — The Ridgeland Police Department is asking the public to help out an officer who was seriously injured in a crash along the Natchez Trace Parkway during severe weather Sunday morning, officials said.
Cpl. Ryan Stacy was involved in the crash April 26 when his vehicle struck a fallen tree on the Natchez Trace, according to the police department.
Authorities said Stacy had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Police Chief Brian Myers said the department is asking for prayers for Stacy and his family as he recovers.
“The Ridgeland PD family asks for your prayers for a speedy recovery for Ryan and prayers for his family during this difficult time,” Myers said in a statement.
The department said Stacy faces a lengthy recovery and asked the community to keep him, his family and fellow officers in their prayers.
Stacy was recently recognized as Officer of the Month during the department’s March board meeting.
Support efforts for Stacy and his family are being coordinated through the 1828 Project of Madison County, according to the department.
