LEE COUNTY – A 54-year-old Itawamba County man has been arrested on charges related to the sexual abuse of a young child, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said the sheriff’s office recently investigated a child sexual abuse case that led investigators to identify Gregory Anthony Ramos of Itawamba County as a suspect.
The case was presented to a Lee County grand jury, which issued warrants charging Ramos with three counts of sexual battery of a child under 14, according to the sheriff’s office.
Ramos was taken into custody April 21 in Itawamba County. Authorities said he is also under indictment there on separate alleged child sex crime charges.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office thanked the U.S. Marshals for helping apprehend Ramos, the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with the investigation and the Easterseals of Mississippi Child Advocacy Center for supporting victims of child abuse.
