MERIDIAN – Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred April 17, authorities said.
The Meridian Police Department announced that, following an ongoing investigation, officers located the individuals believed to be involved and took them into custody Monday afternoon. The arrests were carried out with assistance from the department’s SWAT team, and both suspects were apprehended without incident.
Frederrion Pruitt has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held on a $100,000 bond, police said. Mykessia Thomas was charged with accessory after the fact and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Both remain in custody as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson said the arrests were the result of a coordinated effort across multiple units.
“When violence occurs in Meridian, we will use every available resource to identify, locate, and apprehend those responsible,” Thompson said. “That work is ongoing, and it will continue.”
Authorities said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Meridian Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
