Victim airlifted after stabbing in Columbus neighborhood

COLUMBUS – A person was critically injured in a stabbing Friday afternoon in Columbus, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at about 5 p.m. to the area of Vann Court, where a 37-year-old victim was found with a stab wound, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities said the victim was airlifted to a hospital in Tupelo and was listed in critical condition.

A 20-year-old suspect was taken to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center for questioning, according to the sheriff’s office.

The case remains under active investigation. No charges had been filed as of the sheriff’s office’s latest update.
