Marshall County – The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office helped capture a fugitive wanted on rape charges out of Wisconsin, according to WMC.
Authorities said the man was wanted on two counts of child rape in Wisconsin. Before he was taken into custody, investigators said he led law enforcement on a brief chase, then ran into a wooded area.
The pursuit prompted a lockdown at schools in the Byhalia area, WMC reported. Officials said the suspect was later taken into custody without incident, and the lockdown has since been lifted.
According to WMC, the arrest was a joint effort involving the U.S. Marshals, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office and the Byhalia Police Department.
