ADAMS COUNTY – A wanted fugitive facing felony charges was arrested without incident Friday in Adams County, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said Roosevelt Johnson Jr. was taken into custody April 17 after deputies received a credible tip about his location on King Circle in Natchez.
Johnson was wanted in connection with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into a motor vehicle tied to a violent incident earlier this month in Adams County, authorities said.
According to the sheriff’s office, patrol deputies and members of the Special Operations Group responded to the area and carried out what officials described as a swift and controlled operation.
Deputies found Johnson hiding inside an abandoned vehicle and took him into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff Travis Patten said the arrest reflects both law enforcement coordination and help from the public.
“Let this serve as a clear message, if you commit violent crimes in Adams County, we will not stop until you are found and brought to justice,” Patten said in a statement. “We are especially grateful to the citizens who came forward with information.”
Authorities said anyone with information related to criminal activity is encouraged to contact the Adams County Sheriff’s Office or submit anonymous tips through Southwest Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 1-888-442-5001.
