HATTIESBURG – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy Sunday evening in Hattiesburg, according to the Hattiesburg Police Department.
Police said 23-year-old Alexander Del Pilar Trujillo of Jones County was taken into custody in Jasper County following a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Authorities said Trujillo is being held and will be transported back to Hattiesburg to face charges related to the shooting.
Investigators said detectives were able to narrow their search after receiving a tip about Trujillo’s whereabouts.
The Hattiesburg Police Department thanked the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Forrest County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Task Force for their assistance in the investigation and arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing.
