GLUCKSTADT – A Germantown High School student was taken to a hospital Tuesday after consuming a non-controlled substance gummy and having a negative reaction, according to the Gluckstadt Police Department.
Police said the incident happened around noon. Emergency services were called as a precaution, and responders from Pafford EMS and the Gluckstadt Fire Department evaluated the student at the school.
At the request of the student’s mother, the student was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation, police said.
Authorities said the situation was handled quickly and safely.
The department also urged parents and students to be cautious about consuming substances that are not prescribed or clearly identified, saying even non-controlled items can cause unexpected effects.
Police said student safety remains a top priority.
