ADAMS COUNTY – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday night to a residential structure fire on Mimosa Drive in Natchez.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched around 8:18 p.m. April 12, 2026, to a home at 112 Mimosa Drive after a 911 caller reported a fire.
Deputies arrived about six minutes later and found smoke coming from the rear of the residence, officials said. Fire units were already on the way and began working to assess and contain the fire.
Authorities said initial reports indicated the fire started in the back area of the home. Firefighters were able to limit most of the damage to one section of the residence, though officials said the interior showed visible fire, smoke and heat damage, especially in the living area and nearby parts of the home.
Entergy and Atmos Energy also responded to help secure the residence and make sure there were no additional hazards, according to the sheriff’s office.
One person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation because of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
