HOLLY SPRINGS — Authorities in Marshall County are investigating three separate shootings over the weekend that left two people dead and another injured, officials said.

Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said deputies responded around 11 a.m. Sunday to a residence on Highway 311 near Whitton Road, where a 19-year-old was found dead in a driveway.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered between 12 and 15 shell casings, believed to be from an AK-47-style weapon, in the area where the victim was discovered.

Authorities said several witnesses have been interviewed and a possible suspect has been identified, but the individual remains at large. No description has been released. The investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident Saturday night south of Byhalia, deputies responded to a shooting near Highway 309 during a horse show. Officials said two adults got into an argument, and one shot the other.

The victim, identified as Gary Poplar of Benton County, died from his injuries. The suspected shooter is in custody and is expected to be charged with murder.

In a third shooting north of Red Banks, authorities said a verbal altercation escalated into gunfire, leaving one person injured. The victim survived and was transported for medical treatment.

The suspect in that case, identified as Justin Lee Spoon, has been taken into custody and will be charged with attempted murder.

All three incidents remain under investigation.
