TUPELO – Tupelo police have arrested a man in connection with a felony fleeing case that began with a traffic stop attempt in November and ended in a crash.
According to the Tupelo Police Department, officers on Nov. 7, 2025, tried to stop a black Toyota Camry near Ida B. Wells Street and Enoch Avenue for an equipment violation.
Police said the vehicle then began driving erratically, ran stop signs and continued fleeing from officers. Authorities said the chase ended when the vehicle crashed into another vehicle and the people inside ran away on foot.
Investigators later identified the driver as 25-year-old Earnest Long Jr. of Tupelo.
Police said Long was arrested April 2, 2026, and charged with felony fleeing.
At an April 3 hearing, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Willie Allen ordered Long held on a $15,000 bond.
