COLUMBUS – A Columbus man has been arrested in connection with an alleged incident involving a minor that police say happened about five years ago on Main Street.

The Columbus Police Department said officers arrested 39-year-old Alvie Jordan on April 8, 2026.

Following an investigation, Jordan was charged with statutory rape in connection with an alleged incident in the 2400 block of Main Street.

Authorities said the case began after the victim recently came forward to report the incident. Police said the victim told investigators she had previously been threatened, which contributed to the delay in reporting.

Jordan was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Because of the sensitive nature of the case and to protect the identity of the victim, police said no additional information would be released at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Columbus Police Department or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers.
