The group said Capitol Police discovered the dog trapped inside the building when officers went to arrest the suspect. Rescue volunteers were then contacted to take custody of the animal.

According to the rescue, the dog had not been properly cared for and is now being treated by a veterinarian. The group said it plans to restore the dog’s skin condition and provide full veterinary care, including spaying.

The rescue is now asking for a foster home for the dog, saying it currently has no available space. The group also said the person who fosters the dog will be able to name her.

In addition, the organization is requesting help covering veterinary and boarding expenses. Donations can be made through Venmo, PayPal or directly through its account at Florence Animal Clinic.

The rescue group also thanked Capitol Police for helping remove the dog from what it described as a situation of suffering.
