NATCHEZ – A Natchez man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he assaulted his girlfriend with a firearm and drove away in her vehicle early Sunday morning.
According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:02 a.m. April 5 to a reported assault at Noble House Apartments, located at 576 Lower Woodville Road.
When deputies arrived, they made contact with the victim, who said her boyfriend, 22-year-old Danterrius Deonte Antonio Jones, had struck her multiple times in the face with a firearm. Authorities said the victim suffered visible injuries.
Investigators said Jones then took the victim’s vehicle keys and fled the scene in her 2014 Dodge Charger.
A short time later, deputies located Jones and the vehicle in the parking lot of Jaroc’s. During the investigation, deputies recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson SD40VE .40-caliber handgun from inside the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jones was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Adams County Jail.
He is charged with aggravated domestic assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The sheriff’s office said the victim was helped in recovering her vehicle and was advised of available resources. Evidence collected during the investigation has been secured.
Sheriff Travis Patten said the Adams County Sheriff’s Office takes domestic violence cases seriously and remains committed to protecting victims and holding offenders accountable.
The sheriff’s office also praised the victim for reporting the abuse, saying her decision to come forward may have prevented further violence.
