Jones also praised officers and staff with both the Jackson Police Department and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office.

“I am also deeply grateful to the men and women of both JPD and HCSO for their professionalism, dedication, and support in ensuring stability and continuity of operations in both departments,” he said. “Their service to our community is invaluable, and I am proud to stand with them.”

Jones said he remains optimistic about the city’s future and plans to continue working with Jackson leaders and public safety partners as sheriff.

“As a lifelong Jacksonian, I admire the progress our city continues to make, and it has been an honor to contribute to that progress,” he said. “In my ongoing role as Sheriff, I look forward to continuing strong partnerships with the City of Jackson, our community, and all public safety stakeholders.”

He also said he intends to support incoming Jackson Police Chief Dr. Rashell Brackney during the transition.

“I also look forward to supporting incoming Chief Dr. Rashell Brackney throughout this transition and as she assumes leadership of the department,” Jones said.

Jones closed his statement by thanking the city directly.
