INDIANOLA — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into a fatal officer-involved shooting involving the U.S. Marshals Service that happened March 30 at a home on Mill Street.
According to MBI, agents with the U.S. Marshals Service were attempting to serve a rape warrant on a person at a home in Indianola when the subject allegedly displayed a weapon toward the agents.
An agent then fired a weapon, striking the subject and causing fatal injuries, MBI said.
Authorities said no agents suffered serious physical injuries.
MBI said it is continuing to gather evidence and assess the incident. Once the investigation is complete, the agency will share its findings with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
Officials said the information released so far is preliminary and could change.
