TUNICA COUNTY – A Tunica man was arrested Friday night after authorities said he was linked to a vehicle burglary at a Robinsonville casino, then led deputies on a chase that ended in a crash and foot pursuit.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called around 9:14 p.m. Friday to a casino in Robinsonville after receiving a report of a vehicle burglary in the parking lot.

Witnesses provided a description of the suspects’ vehicle, and that information was broadcast to patrol deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

At about 9:52 p.m., a deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description near Old Highway 61 and Casino Strip Drive and attempted a traffic stop. Authorities said the driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a high-speed chase before losing control of the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

Deputies then pursued the suspect on foot and used a sheriff’s office K-9 to make the arrest, officials said.

Authorities identified the suspect as Deonte Taylor, 20, of Tunica. Taylor suffered a dog bite during the apprehension and was treated at an area hospital before being taken to the Tunica County Jail.

Taylor was charged with failure to stop, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy, burglary of a vehicle and felony fleeing.

The sheriff’s office said Taylor had also been out on bond in connection with a 2023 triple homicide case in Tunica County, where he faced capital murder and other charges.

Officials said Taylor was given a $45,000 bond on the new charges.
