ADAMS COUNTY – A fugitive wanted in Minnesota on multiple felony charges was arrested Wednesday in Natchez during a joint law enforcement operation led by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Elijah Davion York was taken into custody without incident March 25 at a house on Seale Lane in Natchez, authorities said.
York was wanted in Dakota County, Minnesota, on extraditable felony warrants that included first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim younger than 14, use of a minor in sexual performance or pornographic work, fourth-degree assault against protected classes and fifth-degree assault, according to officials.
Authorities said York had also previously failed to appear in court as required.
After confirming the active warrants with the originating agency, members of the U.S. Marshals Service, assisted by Adams County sheriff’s deputies, carried out the arrest without resistance, officials said.
York is being held pending extradition proceedings to Minnesota.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the arrest reflects cooperation between federal and local law enforcement agencies in locating and apprehending fugitives across state lines.
