GEORGE COUNTY – The George County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were involved in a vehicular pursuit that ended in the death of Austin McCraney.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office said the incident happened on the previous day, but no additional details were released.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. George County authorities said they will fully cooperate with the investigation.
Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said the department is committed to transparency and to cooperating fully as the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation conducts what he described as a thorough and independent review.
