Hinds County unveils Fallen Deputies & Jailers Monument honoring those who made ultimate sacrifice

According to Sheriff Tyree Jones, the Fallen Deputies & Jailers Monument serves as a permanent tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the community.

“This memorial stands as a lasting reminder that while their watch has ended, their legacy lives on,” Jones said in a statement. “Every visitor who walks these grounds will know that heroes served here and that their sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

Jones expressed gratitude to the families of the fallen, recognizing their strength and continued dedication to honoring their loved ones.

The sheriff also thanked Hinds County Board of Supervisors President Robert Graham, Vice President Wanda Evers and other board members for their role in supporting the project, as well as county leaders, law enforcement agencies and community members who attended the unveiling.

Members of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson Police Department and other partnering agencies were present for the ceremony, along with clergy, elected officials and community partners.

Jones also recognized Felicia Tripp for her work in coordinating the ceremony.

Sheriff Tyree Jones stated,

“Today was a powerful reminder of duty, sacrifice, and the enduring bond of the law enforcement family.
