U.S. Marshals capture fugitive wanted in Winston County shooting

WINSTON COUNTY – A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Winston County and the attempted shooting of a law enforcement officer has been captured, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Bobby White Jr., 45, was arrested March 17 in Ackerman following a fugitive investigation led by the U.S. Marshals Service. White was wanted by the Winston County Sheriff’s Department on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Authorities said the case began March 12 after an adult male, believed to be a family member of White, was shot following an altercation on Miller Avenue in Louisville.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about the shooting, and as a Winston County sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene, officials said the suspect fired at the deputy. The deputy was not struck.

Investigators said the suspect then fled into the woods and was not immediately located. A warrant for White’s arrest was issued March 13.

On March 17, deputy U.S. marshals with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked White to a home in the 1300 block of Concord-Bethsalem Road in Ackerman.

With assistance from the Winston County and Choctaw County sheriff’s departments, U.S. marshals surrounded the residence and took White into custody without incident.
